Q: Does she love your music?

A: My mom?

Q: Yeah.

A: She's very critical. She came to the studio, to Linda's studio a couple weeks ago. I think it is really hard for my mom to, she says how she really feels about my music because I think she is really proud of me. But I think she is really critical to hear..... you know, she is very musically knowledgeable. So I don't know. I hope she likes it. I think she does. I just think she has a hard time showing it.

Q: What's your song writing process? How do you get your inspiration?

A: It's funny because on this record, there's a lot of inspiration but when I first started writing it, there was no inspiration. So it comes from traveling, it comes from meeting people even like yourself. I get inspiration from the people around me all the time. You know, when I was writing "The whole world around," there's a track that I wrote around all the blessings and things I was given in the last few years.

And also be guilt and shame that comes from momentary stuff, you know, when you are making a lot of money. And then my life-style change so dramatically that I felt really, almost as if I felt guilty about it. So that was inspirational. I wrote the song about the conflict between having a lot of money and then decide not having any money. That song is about that struggle. In "Negative Fashion," I wrote for a girl who is a friend of mine who is an ex-super model who had really tough time in the industry.

So I wrote in negative fashion for her. There are all characters of the songs in the song, you know. And "Am I still the One?" was written from the inspiration and blessings I was given by in Japan. Even the melody of that song has an Eastern feel. I went into the studio and played it for Linda, and she said "You know, it sounds like Japanese or something". She asked me, "Why did you write that?" And I said, "I don't know." It just comes out of you because when you spent so much time here or anywhere else, it gets into your blood. And when you start to write a song, for this Asian melody to come out with the Western feel. It was like I said, "I don't know where this is coming from. And she said "well, maybe it is because I spend so much time there." Maybe I just don't know where I draw my inspiration from here, from being around the world.
